Walked in off the Totara valley road, forded the river and made my way up through the untracked bush to the summit. I spent a while removing scrub and small trees growing up through the historic trig (surveyors triangulation beacon) which dates from the C19th. For about half the return journey a different route was taken in order to look for old gold workings.
