"Hit Andesite Peak, then swooped over to bag all 3 spires. The sword in the stone on Castle Peak proper was a nice touch! Epic end to an amazing day on the mountain. Managed to stay just ahead of the crowd. NEXT!! " — theMeanderer • Nov 9, 2025
"Started at Mt. Rose TH parking lot - the trail is snow covered with a few inches max, some slushy areas and others hard packed, depending on where the sun falls. Weather was great - t-shirt hiking until sunset then it got chilly. Saw some dogs and other hikers enjoying the last of the good weather. No micro spikes needed with good tread on shoes. Great hike. "The weather was forecasted to be mild to warm today so I decided to go for the big one and the TH is only 18 minutes from our apartment. Started off on bare ground then a short way in it was a mix of snow covered and bare trail conditions. Once on summit area there more snow as expected. A bit slippery in spots but managed to stay upright. Brought micro spikes but didn’t use them till I descended the summit cone itself. Shorts and T-shirt were fine for the ascent, time on top, and descent. I have not hiked as much as usual this year, with the big move from East coast to the West, so this hike kicked my butt a bit. Still nice to be out in the wonderful weather." — Nimblefoot • Oct 31, 2025
"Amazing bluebird day. Did the Tahoe Triple Crown, starting at horse meadows working clockwise. Summitting Freel peak, Jobs Sister, & Jobs peak in 1 day. At just under 12 miles, the loop took 7.5 hrs to complete. The trail is pretty moderate to freel pass. Then the accent gets steep w/ switchbacks and boulder stairs. The decent to jobs sister & jobs is steep and very soft d.g. and completely exposed. " — theMeanderer • Aug 19, 2025
"Highly recommend doing all three (with proper training). It was a hard trek. The trail was clear, no snow. Cold on the peaks and a bit windy. Storm rolled in on way down the last peak - had a bit of hail and rain, but blue skies otherwise. Water proof jackets always recommended for the mountains!" — colleenmarie512 • Aug 24, 2024
