"Went for a trail run up Spring Hill. Did some horrible bushwacking to try to find the true summit; I definitely got close but I may have missed by a few dozen feet. There was an old trail that kind of went that way but it was badly overgrown. Did the Rocky Point Loop on the way back, the summit boulder was tucked under a tree. "With my tail between my legs after getting turned around on Mt. Shasta, I set my sights on Black Butte. I have wanted to tag this one since it's proximity to I-5 makes it a temping option. The trail is extremely varied with forest trail, graveled trail, rocky boulder hopping, and snow traverses.
