Climb the highest points in every county in Ireland. This popular challenge includes the highest points in each of the traditional 32 Irish counties. A few notes:
• Includes only 27 peaks because 5 of the peaks are the highest in two counties.
• The highpoints in 3 counties have minimal to no prominence (Letrim, Roscommon, and Monaghan) but are included for the sake of tradition

"Was about to lead a hiking group but ended up being a solo-adventure due to all participants jumping off because of an active yellow weather warning this weekend. Parked at the beautiful Baravore Carpark and started my hike at 9.00AM in the morning wading through the cold water of the flooded road (Pro tip:there is a footbridge 20 yards up the trail... no need tondo this lol). After roughly 2 hours passing a gorgeous waterfall and going through a beautiful untouched landscape I arrived on the summit where I met 4 other hikers all slurping a tea and trying to warm up. It was at this point when I realised maybe it was for the better I was by myself as it was freezing and hardly enjoyable duebto the cold/wet temps. I surely thought twice whether to check the map or not to keep my hands warm. :D
On the way back I finished in a loop which forced me to wade through the river this time but was all in all an amazing day considering the winter conditions. Had a soup with a pint at the Glenmalure lodge which I highly recommend. Would definitely go for this loop again!" — BlueJeans • Nov 22, 2025
"For the first time in 9 years I came back to the Wicklow mountains
Did a few peaks but the hike was challenging but got it done in terrible conditions
Three words amplified with me through this hike

"Very windy but fair May weather. Starting in Newcastle, I approached Slieve Donard directly from North via a footpath which can be traced but you have to be careful and always compare with the GPS. After Donard I visited Slieve Beg and began a long but steady descent back to Newcastle." — markorothe • May 3, 2025
"30.4.25 was the day, and a day it was! 10/10 weather, clear sky and warm. Started early and reached the Carrauntoohil's summit via the Devil's Ladder around 10:30 - I was the only one there, can you imagine? Afterwards I turned south to Caher, descended this range and stepped up to the next range from Cnoc Iochtair to Beenkeragh. The most fun part was the Devil's Ladder, climbing the narrow ridge from Beenkeragh in direction of Carauntoohil for the descent and the descent itself were very demanding, don't overestimate yourself <3" — markorothe • Apr 30, 2025
"I enjoyed the hike up here today and it’s a good incline to push you without being too steep. I parked at the first car pull in and would recommend this to give you a decent hike out although there is a car park higher up at the base.
The pathways are clearly marked with posts - there are worn bits in the grass but I’d suggest leaving these for way back. At the top are the main cairns and rock formations which are much bigger than I thought.
I’d been told you could get into the cave section but it wasn’t open today so not sure if it is a seasonal thing as the centre wasn’t open either.
I then walked round and there aren’t any further pathways other than to see the scenery on the other side but I prefer this than going down the same way I’ve came. " — LorrsHikes • Apr 4, 2025
