"Solo hike, did loop from fire tower rd with spur to roaring mtn then down telephone line trail. Would recommend reversing the direction as I was slipping on leaves on the way down and I don’t think that would have been a problem on the wider road. Took quick jaunt over to roaring falls and cherry pond. " — dennis-van-amburgh • Dec 1, 2023
"A suburban park, so it is usually busy in nice weather, lots of walkers. An easy walk out to Sachem's Head from the parking area, no significant inclines. The cliff at Sachem's Head was surprisingly dramatic. Moving north to Poet's Seat tower, I took the woodland trail rather than the paved road up and this had a fairly steep incline at the end to get up to the tower. Nothing major but take the road if looking for an easier route." — MilesTogo • Oct 21, 2021
"A great hike, steady climb but not terribly steep, very pleasant. Trails in great condition, well maintained. Interesting rock formations towards the summit, almost caves, but not quite. A few overlooks with great views. " — MilesTogo • Oct 14, 2021
"A challenging hike bagging all three of these peaks. Persistent, steep incline up Roaring Mountain. Trail clearly marked. No view from that peak. Moved on to Mount Toby, again, a gradual but persistent incline up the wide dirt road, quite a workout. Climbed the fire tower at the summit of Toby, stunning views of Pioneer Valley and surrounding hills. Headed down the steep side of Mt. Toby (northeast), wouldn't really want to go up that way. At trail intersection with a bench kept going straight (east), bushwhacking a ways to the summit of Ox Hill. I bushwhacked a longer route down to hook up with a southerly trail, probably should have just gone back the way I came. This is a great hike, good way to bag three peaks and get a great workout." — MilesTogo • Sep 29, 2021
