Highlights
- Dartmoor is home to fantastic Tors, and although not as high as some of the peaks in the North of the Country, it does offer a fantastic training ground with some incredible views from high up.
- Although High Willhays is the highest Tor on Dartmoor, its neighbour Yes Tor seems to be much more impressive a Tor, but on a clear day the views from both are stunning.

"Starting at South Brent car park and walking up Vicarage Rd and taking the permissive path through the farmland to the base of Brent Hill. A nice climb up to see the hill fort mounds and the ruins of the chapel plus a spot of lunch before heading down and picking up the lane north to Shipley Bridge. Continued back around and followed lane down other side of River Avon back via Aish and to the car. 11.72km. Overcast. Solo. " — MuchMoorWalking • Sep 27, 2025
"Started from Postbridge for a short walk around the Bellever area testing some new equipment and checking injury recovery. Quite busy with people enjoying the forest area so didn’t hang about. 7.6km. Sunny. Solo. " — MuchMoorWalking • Sep 6, 2025
"Started out from Bennett’s Cross car park and headed east towards King’s Tor via the Grimspound site. Low cloud all around meant little to see but made good time via King’s Barrow before heading back and up toward the Hameldown ridge line. Followed this south before taking little used bridlepath to meet up with road. Followed this back north to pick up Two Moors Way link and returned to car via Birch Tor. 15.12km. Overcast/Calm. Solo. "Started on a frosty and cold morning from Belstone Village out over the westerly hills before joining the military tracks out to Hangingstone Hill. Return via the easterly side of the River Taw following the track back via the Hound Tors and the mighty Cosdon Hill. 18.8km. Sunny/Cold. Solo. " — MuchMoorWalking • Nov 25, 2023
"A little trek to bag a few tors…. The weather was high winds and heavy rain, with occasional 0 visibility due to low cloud base (hence very few photos)…. But, we still managed to get to Row Tor, West Mill Tor, Yes Tor, High Willhays and Dinger Tor….." — chriscollings-UK • Aug 12, 2023
