"Tough hike but beautiful day. Scree near the top on the ridgeline definitely hard on the acrophobe (Savannah) but had a day with many wildlife spottings and stops to take in the view. Saw fox, ptarmigan, pika, marmot, and mountain goats. Amazing hike made you feel like you earned your lunch -- but we should've brought more snacks." — broallen • Jul 13, 2024
"9/24/23: #7 and final summit of the Tenmile Traverse Part Deux. This project, originating at the beginning of the year, culminated with amazing and dramatic views of the Tenmile Centennials yet to come, including Quandary. Along the way, some of the most striking ridge-hike views and some pretty decent scrambling to boot! This was a lot of fun, even having to finish solo, and felt like a nice accomplishment. After scoping out future routes for Crystal Peak and Father Dyer, I headed down Peak 10 Rd where LWW was waiting with the Taco. Total: (11.6/4780)" — LoneWolf • Sep 24, 2023
"The ridge line from the east peak to the west peak was absolutely amazing. Heading down I found the trail to bypass heading back over East North Star. This hike was more tedious than difficult. " — MtnGeek • Aug 17, 2023
"8/13/23: LWW drove us to the Shoe Basin Mine/Argentine Pass TH. At 1.5mi and 12,200 we started off-trail up the nose of Argentine’s west slope ridge (steep but easy travel) as the grade leveled out for the second half. Somewhat menacing clouds were coming off G&T at regular intervals and it was an abyss of forming clouds below us on the east side of the Divide so we made the break minimal and headed south towards Decatur." — LoneWolf • Aug 13, 2023
"Third time's the charm! After two previous summer attempts to summit and ski Peak 10, I finally made it to the top (though not without some treacherous moments!)
Parked at the Ski Patrol shack at Peak 9 and hiked up the service road (CR 751) to the Peak 10 summit ridge. The wind was gusty and swirly, with completely calm moments punctuated by 50+ mph gusts from multiple directions as the wind swirled over the Tenmile Range; quite a scary situation with skis on my back and long falls possible along the final ridge push! At the microwave tower I took shelter at the maintenance shed and eventually decided to take my skis off my pack and walk with them/drag them, which proved to be a much better situation. The few times it got scary, I just got down on all fours and crawled along the ridge -- I'd rather look undignified than dead! Left my skis near the top of the snow field (making sure they were *firmly* planted in the snow), and made it to the summit pretty uneventfully from there.
Returning to my skis after a few moments of enjoying the summit, I waited for a calm moment and dropped in to 4th of July Bowl around 13,450 feet. Got a little bit scary for a minute traversing over ..." — wazoheat • Jun 20, 2022
