"2/8/26: Private trip with CMC folks (Jenna, Bobby, and new guy-Adam). We started from the lower, winter Baldy TH and made our way up the Baldy Mtn forest road (FS265) to the old Iowa Mill. We continued up the standard route and the long switchbacks to the lower shoulder of Baldy’s north ridge using snowshoes for the last miles or so. The high ridge proper is quite esthetic and flowy especially with most gaps snow filled. Adam turned around about 300’ from the summit and the three of us finished the climbing blustery but sunny conditions. The summit and the views from the ridge are spectacular as one might expect from a 2000’ prominent perch in between two great mountain ranges. This is undoubtedly the best front porch view of the Ten Mile Range!
Bobby headed down before us and Jenna and I took a bee-line down following the descending ore-cart cable from the upper mine. Snow depth and quality varied greatly and we ultimately went back to snowshoes for the hike out. Definitely one of the more enjoyable Front Range climbs and obvious why so many backcountry skiers use the area.

"Fun mild scramble on a ridge from Hoosier Pass. The trail is a bit of a maze through some some old mining equipment-watch out for rusty nails! Had a very close encounter with a mountain goat.

"I arrived at Cordova Pass around 6:50am only to find one other car at the trailhead. It seemed unusual for Memorial Day weekend, but no complaints here! It was a beautiful spring day...still plenty of snow drifts in the trees, but easy to walk over until it warmed up. The ridge up was mostly snow-free, but the summit ridge is still holding a nice, chunky drift. It was a short hike (7.5 miles rt), but I made it last seven hours because it was such a nice day!" — WaxDr • May 23, 2025
"Tough hike but beautiful day. Scree near the top on the ridgeline definitely hard on the acrophobe (Savannah) but had a day with many wildlife spottings and stops to take in the view. Saw fox, ptarmigan, pika, marmot, and mountain goats. Amazing hike made you feel like you earned your lunch -- but we should've brought more snacks." — broallen • Jul 13, 2024
"9/24/23: #7 and final summit of the Tenmile Traverse Part Deux. This project, originating at the beginning of the year, culminated with amazing and dramatic views of the Tenmile Centennials yet to come, including Quandary. Along the way, some of the most striking ridge-hike views and some pretty decent scrambling to boot! This was a lot of fun, even having to finish solo, and felt like a nice accomplishment. After scoping out future routes for Crystal Peak and Father Dyer, I headed down Peak 10 Rd where LWW was waiting with the Taco. Total: (11.6/4780)" — LoneWolf • Sep 24, 2023
