From US-550 turn onto County Road 279. CR-279 starts out as paved but will eventually turn to a graded gravel then finally to graded dirt. The road is not well marked so best to have a map or GPS as it can be confusing. At approximately 35.5693N, 107.1905W there's a ranch road that heads to the peak which is clearly visible a mile south of CR-279. The ranch road is HC-4WD so if you lack the appropriate vehicle best to park it and hike in. The road goes to a low saddle where there's a running water trough. I went up the northeast side of the mtn and I don't recommend it. You can scramble up but the rock is crap, very loose thus unsafe. I ended up going further south along the east side of the mesa to an easy place to scramble up. From there I ended up hiking off the south end of the mountain heading to Cerro Salado, 3.5 miles away. Ended up being a 8.5 mile hike RT.
