What a great surprise! I had stared at this mountain for years, driving between Vegas & SoCal. Finally decided to climb it. It was getting a bit warm, but there was a nice breeze to balance it out. We took the Afton Road exit and followed a series of roads until they got too sandy. We parked and continued hiking up the sand road to the south ridge, which we followed up to the summit. There was some fun scrambling and the summit views were incredible! There are 2 benchmarks up there, as well as a very large cairn on a non-summit. We spent quite a while enjoying the scenery up here before taking a more direct route straight down through the sand.
