"Took advantage of lingering foothill snow to visit this little peak with a mysterious history and great views. Once named Oat Mountain, it was home to two generations of fire lookouts. As far as I can tell the name change may have occurred when the second structure was built. The concrete foundations of the newer structure are still visible, as well as the access road that is now mostly on private land. You can stay on public land by hiking directly from Redinger Overlook, like I did.
