Saturday the 22th. Took off for a shorter, morning hike up to Bean Peak along the Fourth Creek and Hardscrabble trails. I have to say that the Hardscrabble trail is a sublime east/west traverse and climb through delighful spring-fed meadows with the Stewart Range as the backdrop. THe shooting star (flower) are ubiquitous.
Several terrific camp spots were noted along the way. Made my way up the ridge or saddle in between Volcanic Arm and Bean Peak. After having spent 24+ hours in solitude, I was a little surprised to see a dozen or so folks converging on Bean Peak from the Bean Creek basin. A pack of folks with climbing helmets passed by headed toward Volcanic arm and beyond. I watched a cute little Marmot clean up the top of Bean Peak.
I headed back down to camp for lunch, then elected to pack up and head home for a much needed shower and dinner with some family. " — MosquitoFood • Jun 22, 2019
"Beautiful day - couldn't have been any more perfect! Bean Creek is running high and mighty - bring water crossing apparel. Trail is mostly snow-free; basin is a snow scramble; rock is dry and sticky. I haven't seen a better day for views from the Teanaway - see everything in the Enchantments. Continued along the ridge to Devil's Head - quite sketchy snow traverse across Volcanic Neck - then tagged Bean again on the way back. Opted not to hit Volcanic Neck due to questionable snow conditions on the route. Will be back for that one later this summer... " — diana • Jun 10, 2012
"Tagged Bean again on the way back from Devil's Head. There are alternate routes to leave but we were not feeling particularly adventurous in a longer return route that day - mostly just enjoying the great weather." — diana • Jun 10, 2012
