"Loop from the gap, over Windy Peak Hills. Snow patches on the ridge, more snow on N side of Windy Peak. Descended NW ridge and back to the highway to complete the loop. I carried snowshoes but used them only on flat section below the ridge on my return . Bit smoky in the morning, then it cleared." — Pawel G • May 12, 2024
"Brutally high winds....met a group of COC members and hiked with them a ways to the summit of Windy Peak and then on to Saddle Mountain...nearly got blown off the connecting hills on the way back due to gusts that were upwards of 120 km/hour. Could see little dust devils forming on the highway due to the high wind gusts." — Mountainman • Nov 6, 2010
"I now know why it is called Windy Peak! As soon as we opened the car doors at the trail head, we knew what we were in for, for the balance of the day. We wanted to hold on to all our gear, so decided to gear up in the car then held on tight to everything all day long." — makingwaves • Mar 14, 2009
