"Managed to talk my family into hiking during school vacation. Took along some of the kids' friends who have never been before. So I took them on a real adventure! Great day out. " — mikewilliamsjr • Apr 18, 2023
"A loop hike on day 2. We parked behind Great Head and took a trail to the Loop Road. Crossed it, then went up the Beehive. Steep but fun hike. We dropped down, did a figure 8 to grab trails, then headed over to Gorham Mtn. We went down the south slope and reached the trailhead. We then walked along the Shore Path and hung out at the Thunderhole for almost an hour. We continued along the Shore Path and crossed Sand Beach. We took a trail from there to the car." — newenglandwarrior • May 16, 2021
"Stop #2 of the day. Took the back way up to the summit and missed all of the fun climbing the cliffs. It was so crowded up there. Took away from the experience quite a bit. Moved on to the Bowl and the Champlain Mountain." — mikewilliamsjr • Aug 4, 2020
"Birthday hike, solo. The trail was wet from days and days of rain, slippery in spots, but the air was fresh and my mood was good... :)
The tourists had not yet arrived, so I walked to Thunder Hole as well as a few other spots for photos. Great day." — ErinInMaine • Apr 23, 2017
"Hiked with Kim. First hike of our trip to Acadia National Park. We didn't travel to just hike so we only hiked a couple mountains and also spent time relaxing, checking out the bar, and having fun in Bar Harbor. The beehive was a fun short trail with great views of Sand Beach, Great Head, and the ocean." — LGH-Tom • Oct 25, 2016
"After Champlain, I walked down its south ridge and hit the Beehive from behind. Would have loved to go up the steep side but I was tired after doing Precipice. I am also glad I didn't since I saw the line heading up later on. It was great seeing Sand Beach from above the Beehive again. Lovely views. Went to Gorham Mtn from here." — newenglandwarrior • Aug 10, 2016
"Start/finish at Sand Beach. Hiked with a group of 4. The Beehive is such a fun trail (though not for the faint of heart). Adding the Champlain Mountain summit adds to the sense of accomplishment of the hike, since the Beehive is such a short trail. In the late summer you can probably go swimming at the end - in June the water was still too cold for me!" — bruno-osb • Jun 24, 2016
"Would you believe it was another great day for a hike. Weatherman called for rain, we told him to shove it. The plan was to hike on Sunday, but as I said before plans change. Improvise, Adapt and Overcome and we were off. Six of us headed out for a quick hike up Gorham Mountain. We parked in the Gorham Mt parking lot and headed up the Gorham Mt. trail. When we got to Waldron Bates plaque, we took the Cadillac Cliffs trail. (This is a great trail by the way.) Then up to Gorham Mt. summit. The plan was to hike out to the loop road and do the Great Head Trail. When we came to The Beehive Trail we stopped and watched as other hikers sailed up the trail. This trail has been on my bucket list for some time. Three wanted to go up, three wanted to stay down. I don't regret my decision to go up. Those that stayed behind took our picture every time we came into view. The Beehive Trail isn't a long trail, but if you don't like living on the edge, take the Bowl Trail up. My new motto YOLO (You Only Live Once). We came down the bowl trail, hike out to the loop road, did the Great Head Loop, then walked the Ocean view Trail back to the parking lot. Yea like I said "Great Day For A Hike" oh ye..." — bwright • Apr 26, 2014
"Great day! Sunny- beautiful, not too warm. Cathy, Bryan, & I climbed The Beehive almost as soon as we arrived in Bar Harbor. Quite a surprise climbing the "steep side". Quite challenging!" — LOGAN • Jun 28, 2012
"John climbed the front of the mountain, while I went around the backside. My immense fear of heights kept me from climbing the rocky facade. Spectacular 360* views at the top!" — Amero4k • Jun 3, 2011
