"Crisp clear winter's day with -2'C start from Welbedacht oak trees. Quick time ( 1h15 ) to Welbedacht cave for coffee and scrambled eggs before the next two ramps up to the top. Quick stop at the Spout Cave. Luckily our rope was not a meter shorter and with loops tied to the end and other end tied to the chain we managed the slightly tricky chute to the summit plateau without incident. Don't miss the Sputnik and Darth Vader to the right as you climb out the chain. Views from the top superb as ever. Lots of ice on south face of table rock. Not a living soul in sight." — dawidburger • Aug 28, 2022
"Arno, Alan, Stefan and I drove in and set off from welbedacht parking. We set off on Friday afternoon at about 4pm and hiked to spout cave on tafelberg. It was a pretty intense hike with heavy packs. We slept well and set off for the summit the next morning, taking our time exploring the summit plato. We headed back down and set off for crystal pool, where we spent the day and camped for the 2nd night. The last day, we hiked through to uilsgat, and walked back to the welbedacht parking." — Willowskid08 • Feb 5, 2022
"Did a round trip from Welbedacht, up to - and back down from - Tafelberg, along the contour path to Gabriels Pass, up and across to Wolfberg Arch, and all the way back to Welbedacht. What my girlfriend and I have now called the Cederberg Northern Circuit." — WadeyB • Apr 23, 2021
"Did a three day hike spending night 1 in front of the Welbedacht Cave as it was full (lots of place to camp on flat ground in front of the cave).
I hiked to the bottom of Welbedacht river, 450m elevation decent, to collect 10l of water for the next two days. Water purification tablets would have prevented this as there's a trickle at the top of the valley near the cave. (which I found in my first aid kit after the hike...).
Night two was supposed to be in Spout Cave but the weather was so perfect that we decided to camp on top of the Tafleberg. The sunrise over the Karoo the next morning was incredible (see pictures). " — CraigBurnsStellenbosch • Mar 20, 2021
