"Nora and I took Kali and Brooklyn. Started out and mistakenly went on the Cohos Trail across the road from the Sugarloaf Mountain trail for an hour and a half, then went back and got on the right trail.
Wow, the Sugarloaf Mountain trail is relentless going up.
The views at the top were wonderful, though it would have been better on a sunny day. Had a few sprinkles on the way up, but mostly just overcast.
Down was quick and easy compared to up. The footing was good except for a couple patches of scree.
Pretty tiring hike and glad we didn't combine it with the Percy Peaks. It would have been too exhausting for all of us except Brooklyn. " — Hufflepuff • Aug 2, 2020
"Fabulous day in the Great North Woods. Took the long way up and did a section of the COHOS Trail before heading up the Sugarloaf fire warden trail. Flushed many spruce grouse along the way particularly plentiful as I approached the summit. Photo of the feather remains of one probably taken by an owl. 34 degrees at the trail head, 64 when I returned. " — goshen-bagger • Oct 28, 2017
"The last peak on my weekend to finish the northern peaks on the 52 with a view....this was my favorite of the weekend...stunning views, fantastic trail and beautiful weather. Couldn't have picked a more amazing mountain to finish the weekend on. Just two more hikes to go!" — shay-shay • Jul 16, 2017
"A bit cloudy and windy but still nice hike with really great views from summit. Just a 3 hour hike. Nash Stream road is kind of cool, very scenic and Pond waterfall is also excellent." — Alohabuffy • Oct 1, 2016
"After hiking the Percy's, drove up to hike Sugarloaf. Steep trail, made steeper by already hiking 6 miles on the Percy's. Great view. Saw a mouse and had a mother grouse fly directly at me. " — newenglandwarrior • Jul 18, 2014
