"I hiked in from Biscuit Brook . When I reached the lean-to, I began my bushwack up the southern ridge of Fir. That was incredibly steep. Talus field with thin vegetation and ledges. I eventually reached the ridge line, and followed it to the southeastern side of Fir. I then bushwacked the col to reach Spruce. I found this tiny cairn on the broad summit, that must have been 3 inches high. I then bushwacked back to the col and headed up Fir. I signed into the canister, then followed the herd path to Big Indian. I followed that herd path to the trail and hiked out. I was quite exhausted after 2 days of solid hiking. I headed back home the next day after a quick out and back on Dutcher Notch Tr. " — newenglandwarrior • Sep 22, 2023
"Steve and I did a loop of Fir, Spruce, Hemlock and Winnisook Lake mountains from Rt 47. Additionally we traversed over the west peak of Winnisook Lake mtn. The whack from a Fir was interesting, light rain being an added bonus, with some boulder sections mid way that I wasn’t expecting. The last stretch to the top was easy and we found a small cairn marking the flattish summit. We both found our share of shin-bangers hidden in the undergrowth along with the usual suspects like hobblebush that like to challenge you at inappropriate moments." — Nimblefoot • Sep 7, 2018
"Bushwhacking the 3-pack of Winnisook, Hemlock and Spruce mtns while its easy walking on the hard crust. Whack back to the trailhead, switch from snowshoes to microspikes, then climb Slide mtn to finish off the day." — Nimblefoot • Mar 19, 2014
