"Rode over from Thomas Mountain. Road loses a ton of elevation on the way over. I was pretty dead by the time I reached the summit and still had to ride back to the car in 87 degree heat." — edg • Jul 10, 2022
"First section of Trail is well maintained. After dropping to the creek, trail maintenance was non-existent. Had trouble finding the trail leading up to the saddle. Eventually I found it. The key is after crossing the creek go straight to the fire ring and walk past it. Make a left turn and look for a trail going up the slope. This section of trail is overgrown with mostly just tall grass which is best navigated while wearing long pants (unless you are unprepared like I was). Once at the saddle, I climbed over Peak 5040 (per HPS directions) and picked up the dirt road leading to the summit. On the return, I avoided the overgrown Peak 5040 bypass and stuck to the dirt road before finding the cutoff that returns to the saddle below Peak 5040 and prior to returning to the canyon floor. This added some mileage but it saved a little bit of unnecessary aggravation to my bare legs. Due to the tall grass growing on the trails, I am still picking out stickers in my socks!" — MikeTeeples • Jun 9, 2018
"Short climb from FR-5S15 (0.3mi w/50' gain) after long drive on dirt road, HCV req'd. Did it twice, different approaches to summit rocks (pathfinder peak) high point from vehicle." — BradStemm • Aug 31, 2016
