"I hiked Onyx on the last day of a 3-day weekend in the Lake Isabella Area. Brooks road got a little too rough for my sedan so I rode the MTB for a few miles to the road's end. From there, nice steep climb up the gully to the ridge. F\Big fun boulders and fantastic views of the area from the top. On the way out, with my bike attached to the trunk of my car, I accidentally backed into a cholla cactus. When I got home I found two flat tires on the bike :( " — klotito • Jan 22, 2018
"A nice hike up to one of the few HPS Peaks I have left in the area. Beautiful day, no wind. Quite a bit warmer than I expected to be honest. Great views. Went to KRBC as a reward." — Irrationalist • Dec 1, 2013
"My final Sierra summit during my rotation in Bakersfield. After doing 19 miles the day before this was all I had in me. Took my time heading up the Southern slopes before intersecting the HPS route the rest of the way to the top. The weather was perfect with great visibility in every direction thanks to the storm on Thursday. Too bad all of my pictures didn't come out! Grabbed an early dinner afterwards at Onyx General Store in town, opened in 1851 it has some incredible history. Recommend stopping if you ever pass through. " — Christopher • Feb 10, 2013
