"Nice day, great sun, temps in the 20's. Really clear views from the summit. About 2" of new snow on the trail. With Oak Ridge in the middle, this 3000' hikes like a 4k with 2700' EG." — Alohabuffy • Nov 9, 2019
"Teamed up with Doug for a red-lining hike. The washed out bridge was tricky to cross. Going up Stairs Col Tr, we got nailed by a 15 minute rain storm. I had my rain jacket. Doug did not. We then went up Resolution and located the summit off the trail. We were socked in. We then went over to Parker and had a partial view. As the day progressed, the skies cleared up. We did not summit Langdon. We did summit Pickering and Stanton on the way back to the other car. Some really good red-lining gain." — newenglandwarrior • Sep 7, 2018
"On Friday, August 24, 2018, my friend Pam and I hiked up Rocky Branch Trail from Jericho Road, having to first hike 2 miles up the road, as it was closed off due to washouts. We crossed the Rocky Branch River below the bridge, as it was missing a huge section at the beginning from the flooding. Pam took off her boots and waded, while I walked upstream and rock-hopped across. This section of the Rocky Branch Trail from the road to Stairs Col Trail is pretty flat and nice.
Once we reached the Stairs Col Trail, the climb up started moderately for about the first mile or a little more. The last bit of the trail was steep and slippery, with a bit more hands-on climbing, so I took it slow while Pam went on ahead. We met and filled our water bottles in Stairs Col from a nicely flowing little stream.
After our water situation was taken care of, we took Davis Path, which was very steep, with more hands-on climbing over slippery boulders, from there to the Stairs Mountain spur, then climbed the steep spur and encountered the most awesome place to camp . . . Pam set up her tent about ten feet from the open ledge and I was a bit further back in another spot. We both had views of the mou..." — Hufflepuff • Aug 25, 2018
"Butterflies, wildflowers and snow packed trails..another beautiful spring hiking day in New England. Poor weather coming up thru the notches but it cleared nicely for the hike. Very slow going as the microspikes kept coming on and off. Used my old pair and they finally blew out on the decent and I did not have enough wire ties to repair them. One spiked foot one bare boot!" — goshen-bagger • Apr 28, 2018
"Lucky girls today!! It was expected to be very cloudy, windy, and rain was expected. We got glimmers of sun instead and had 5 minutes to enjoy mount washington's view before the heavy clouds and darkness rolled in. Up and down in 4 hours...a tad boring but had to knock this one off of my 52wav list. " — shay-shay • Nov 30, 2016
"Great hiking weather, bright sunshine with temps in the 40s. Still a cold breeze at the summit. Awesome views from mostly open summit. Nice work out with a sneaky 2800' elevation gain." — Alohabuffy • Apr 24, 2016
"Part of a Crawford, Stairs, Resolution, and Parker hike. Used Colin's car for the car spot to make this hike happen. The views were awesome here, looking up towards Washington. The black flies were fierce, so we didn't stay long. " — newenglandwarrior • May 29, 2015
