"Made it to the top of the "real" mt gower summit. Really nice hike, and no bushwacking if you find the faint use trail. Not to be done on a hot day and this hike is as hard getting to the summit as it is getting back to the trailhead. " — yosinalissebeck • Mar 17, 2022
"This is one of those San Diego peaks best done on a cool day. Fortunately, it is cool in January! If I didn’t see a map for this hike, I would have thought I was taking the wrong trail, since the trail doesn’t go in a direct route to the peak. The trail also goes downhill in the early going. As it turned out, these oddities just made the hike more interesting. The hike is mostly unshaded, but the limited time with shade was appreciated, even in January. At about a half mile to the western summit, there is a faint use trail that climbs up and through rocky slabs before arriving at the summit boulder. The rest of the trail goes along the ridge to the true summit. Great day in San Diego County!" — MikeTeeples • Jan 9, 2021
"Tough hike. Very open and exposed. Careful not to just do the False Summit of Gower. Once you reach it, you can look across a field of bushes and brush, its another 1/4 mile or so to the summit." — Philip-Yoho • Feb 3, 2017
"It should be noted that the trail from Daza Ln is in NO WAY direct. Anyway, it was hot. My dog almost kicked the bucket on account of the the heat. Too hazy to see much. " — benjineer • May 11, 2014
