Left Telegraph Creek at 7:00am and drove for half an hour to the base of the mountain. Hiked through light bush for the first hour. Sweet smells, rustling leaves, and a golden sunrise. Wild cranberries too. We then stumbled across a trail and began following this up the mountain. Much easier. Plenty of brakes and view points on the way up. A very relaxed pace. Eventually the trail petered out and was replaced by dense sub alpine bush. By 11:00am we were finally out of the trees. Amazing display of fall colours up at this altitude, and fruit as well; huckleberries and low bush blueberries. Had lunch on a sub peak at 1:00pm. Amazing view of the wild uninhabited Stikine Valley, Sawtooth mountains, and much more. After an hour we continued on upwards, disturbing three confused mountain goats. Finally summited at 3:30pm after much scree treadmilling. Another 45min break for food and views, then back down, down, down. Went a little off track in the sub alpine bush, but eventually found the trail we had been following earlier. We were slow on the way up because one of my friends had boot problems, and now we were slowed down on our decent because the other friend was feeling sick and throwing up. We had also run out of water. There was a creek right next to us, but down a cliff. Finally we made to the bottom end of this trail which ends at the creek, and we were able to rest and rehydrate. We followed the creek for about 100m to where it came across a little road. The two followed this road out, which goes to a local's property while I ran through the bush to fetch our vehicle parked further downstream. Back to Telegraph Creek just after 9:00pm.
