"Hard route in cold weather. 40kph winds over Cnicht. Climb over Moelwyn Mawr North Ridge had a serious side wind from the west causing unstable walking. Must have been 50kph+ gusts at times. Brilliant technical route along Craigysgafn and a a lovely steep scramble down the other side. Shame there wasn't enough time or energy to tick off Moelwyn Bach. Finished just before dark." — adventure-stricken • Feb 12, 2024
"Approached from Croesor. Again got caught out a little by OS maps, ending up following a lower route eastwards north of the mountain, than the higher intended bridleway. (A supposed path joining them didn't exist). So went a lot further east than really necessary, and climbed up to gain the height and head back closer to slate mines. The intended path, which I took on the way down, afforded a view of the mountain, whereas the one I took concealed it. Also was a little perturbed by Cnicht looking a lot higher than my goal, even though it is 70 metres lower, found this psychologically quite demoralising. Still, great views from up there, so worth the extra effort." — vygodski • Jul 28, 2019
"From layby on south side of Tanygrisiau. Solo. After ascending Moelwyn Bach descended on west side and then went up old incline on the west side of Craigysgafn. Then easily gained summit of Craigysgafn. Followed path to summit of Moelwyn Mawr (next to trig point). Visibility poor so rather unnecessarily descended WNW before going N and E to pass over the col between Moelwyn Mawr and Moelwyn Mawr North Ridge Top and back to Tanygrisiau.
