"Started at the Piuma Trailhead parking lot with the plan to climb McAuley and Mesa Peak. When reaching Mc Auley Peak my eyes were drawn to a higher peak further down the trail. So instead of using the spur trail to McAuley Peak, I kept walking to Peak 2127, which was about a mile further. The trail came close to the summit, leaving a short use trail to the high point. This was my turnaround point where I retraced my steps to McAuley Peak. This time I took the spur trail to the top and signed the register. I continued from there back to a trail junction at a picnic table. I took the dirt road trail to the right which quickly led to Mesa Peak. On top is some sort of man made structure. From the summit, I noticed another lower peak with a well defined use trail leading to its summit about a half mile away. I made sure to include it on my outing. From the far edge of the summit of Peak 1800 were great ocean views and views into the canyons and toward well-to-do neighborhoods of Malibu. This was a good ending to a day where I doubled my planned peak bagging output by just walking a few extra miles." — MikeTeeples • Mar 17, 2019
"This one's really more of a prominent rocky protrusion right off the Backbone trail. It's super straightforward class two. If you're in the area, no reason not to tag it.
Did this as part of the "Grand Tour" loop around Malibu Creek. There's a constant temptation in this area to stop and try some bouldering." — JustinB • Feb 25, 2018
"Second peak before lunch. Fog was creeping out of Corral Canyon up to the ridge at the start which kept it nice and cool. Easy walk along fire road busy with mountain bikers. Summit block was surprising and a fun scramble. " — edg • Jun 24, 2017
