"Catamount Style! What a great day spent with friends doing what we love, A day out with the ADK Clan with some finishing up there winter LP9er challenge, Congrats finishers. Day was cloudy with some sun breaking the clouds but trails were ice covered with minimal granular snow using micros all the way up and down. I took the chance to get this one in before possible border closure, Its a tough world we live in, Till next time, everyone stay safe out there" — ramjet1963 • Mar 14, 2020
"Beautiful hike. Starts off easy for the first 2 km then gets more challenging with lots of climbing involved. There is a section where you have to squeeze yourself between the rocks! Very fun. Kids will love it! This is not a pet-friendly hike." — CPaquin • Apr 22, 2019
"Headed up to Lake Placid with Kim on Friday night and happened to run into some friends at Dancing Bears and had some drinks. The original plan for Saturday morning was to hike Jay Mountain, but the weather was forecasted to be overcast and rainy, so I didn't want to hike the exposed ridge without views and in rain the whole time. I made the decision to hike Catamount and didn't realize that Kim had already hiked it with Kellie. We got to the trailhead around 9:30am and were the first people out on the trail. It ended up being a beautiful day minus the wind. The skies were clear and blue and if it wasn't for the wind it would have been a perfect day. This is a really nice hike, but the top part of the trail could use some more markers/cairns to mark the route. It isn't that you won't find your way to the summit, but people are finding their own way up which is destroying the fragile environment towards the summit. We didn't stay on the summit long because of the wind. We passed several groups on the way down and made it back to the car rather quickly. All in all a nice day for a hike. "I decided to add this to Peakery because the hike to the Summit of Catamount, includes going over this section.
This is the peak at the top of "The Chimney" that many may have heard about. It by itself could be a good little hike for someone who feels they aren't capable of going up and over in order to bag the 1 peak (Catamount).
Part of Catamount, but still a Peak in it's own right. And by adding it, will give people a better idea of what hiking to Catamount is like. We ourselves for 1 moment thought we had summited, then saw Catamount looming over top." — HikingViking • May 14, 2016
"Up finishing my 3 season round of the ADK fire towers and picking up other small fun peaks. Did Scarface in the AM then Little Catamount, via the fun chimney, on my way to Catamount. Finished the afternoon with Silver Lake mountain." — Nimblefoot • Sep 26, 2010
