"Got a bit lost at the junction at the bottom of the road down from Butterfly. Tons of gnats and flies on the trail past the spring up to the PCT. From the PCT, the trail over to Ken Point is still in good shape. I brushed one small segment, but overall easy to follow. Ken Point has an excellent panoramic view as the last peak on the Desert Divide. I had wanted to tag Rock Point on the way out but temps were pushing 90F and I ran out of water... guess I'll be back." — edg • Aug 12, 2022
"I had an ambitious day planned. The goal was to hike the southern six peaks of the desert divide: Rock Point, Butterfly, Ken Point, Lion, Pine, and Pyramid in a loop of sorts, then ride back to my car on a stashed MTB. I lost a lot of time routefinding my way up and down Rock Point and Buterfly Peak that by the time I hit the PCT, it was too late in the day to think about heading to the three northern peaks. So I set my sights on Ken Point. This was actually a fun spur off the PCT. The trail slipped over onto the north side of the desert divide, where I found a few inches of fresh snow and ice-glazed chaparral. It was a steep climb through light brush to the windy and cold summit, where there were fantastic 360 degree views. From there, it was a 2 hour walk on the PCT (which felt like a highway compared to rest of the day) back to my stashed bike and a 4 mi downhill ride back to the car. All told, only 3/6 peaks over 15mi/4000 ft." — klotito • Mar 18, 2018
