"Summer lab job where we drove up to end of logging road and were looking for old dwarf trees to core for climate record in their rings. This trip we drove up the logging road without a radio and were freaked at steepness of each corner. When we got to radio tower at top, we realized all the scientific gear had fallen out of the truck. Drove back and found it. Reloaded and back up. A week earlier, we forgot first aid kit. My professor boss tipped a rock and sliced his calf open where I could see his fat. We both thought he was dead. Turned out it didn't bleed and ripping my shirt off and tying a tourniquet wasn't necessary. 2 hours later we were in Pemberton emergency getting him sewed up with 100 stitches. A couple weeks later he dropped a 5 kg iron ball on his toe and split it open. Lucky I got out of there that summer uninjured ;}" — alexjoseph • Aug 15, 1998
