"Early season ascent but we weren't the first. Snow melted enough to make virtually all rock to summit. Great 4 hr ascent after skiing Sunwapta the day before. Felt like summer in Jasper with 27C the day before. Kane #100!

"Blake and I had a perfect day out. Hot, sunny, fun and productive. Views were great. Only saw one other group of four just at the summit. We took the crux chimney up and slab bypass on the descent." — leigh-annewebster • Aug 5, 2017
"Very interesting scramble. Kain's crux chimney looks like a low Class 5 climb. I chose to ascent far easier ledges right beside it. Still, I think Kane's "difficult" rating is justified. The terrain above this crux are slabs and dirt covered with rock pellets. A slip can send you 20m down the slabby cliff bands. I hate this kind of terrain.
The rest of the scramble is fairly enjoyable. I really like the summit block. Used ice-axe and crampons to go up a few small snow patches. The latter was not necessary as the snow was mostly soft. Fabulous summit views.
Got dehydrated on the way down and walked like a zombie. Had 4 liters and it was not enough on a very hot day with no breeze. The heat sapped my energy. Took me longer to descend than to ascend, which is rediculous. Fast parties who don't have to deal with the snow (and won't get dehydrated) can do it in 9 hours easily. It is still a long outing. Shouldn't be underestimated." — Taras • May 28, 2017
