"Went up the Libby Trail. Fire Warden summited shortly after me and let me check out the inside of the lookout. Name was, Skip, super nice guy! Summited Hanson Top after this. Practically ran the last mile down (not recommended on the rocky sections as I rolled my ankle twice)" — Selrahc2nd • May 21, 2023
"A bluebird winter day for my final NH Fire Tower climb (not counting the privately restricted Croydon). Mid 30s and virtually no wind. The popular High Watch Trail snow cover was packed down so my snowshoes never saw the light of day, just needing microspikes for the descent. The blowdowns at the start were easily avoidable. A couple of lung-buster steep sections are separated by relatively flatter sections that spell you some. Made good time considering I'm fairly new at this winter stuff." — SteveM_StickMan • Mar 8, 2021
"Sunny and 70. Summited the hike with my 6-month pregnant wife and golden retriever. Began hike at 1:30 via High Tower Trail and completed by 3:30. A little less than 3 miles. Trail parking was easy to find. It is the dirt road past the Green Mountain Treatment campus. The hike is about 1,100' of a straight incline. The trial does not serpentine rather follows a fairly straight line up. True to its name, Green Mountain has many conifers and evergreens. As a result, not many views except from the top of the fire tower. Bugs were in full force. Bug net is highly recommended. We did not attempt Hansen's Top (I think that is correct) because other hikers coming down said they could not find the top and there was no real view. Completed the hike for the fire tower challenge. Likely will not hike again. Always enjoyable to hike a mountain, but there are too many good mountains in NH that deserve a second hike. "A lazy start to the day. Made my way up and hiked Green Mtn. Nice views from the fire tower except for the one direction I wanted, towards Chocorua and the White's. There was a tree blocking that direction." — newenglandwarrior • Aug 9, 2018
"Parking is on Libby rd in Effingham (dirt road). Turn off of Town house rd, onto libby rd, drive up the road for a small distance, you will arrive at a large metal gate on the left. You can clearly tell that this gate is the trailhead. park off the road, so that people may be able to still pass by. follow the path through the gate and past a camp house on the left. the climb has a good stretch of steepness, probably 25 minutes worth of constant uphill on a rocky path. as long as you continue to follow the trail, you will arrive at the fork, go to the right for the fire tower top of green mountain, or to the left for hanson top.
at first the mountain seems somewhat plain and boring, but once you get near the top, it is as if you have stepped into another world, absolutely beautiful. there is a pretty decent fire tower, quite a few flights of stairs, not very easy to climb them all after hiking all the way up there. unfortunately when I went, it was a very foggy day, and I could not see any view.

"Decided it would be a good day to hike to the summit on the High Watch Trail. It doesn't look like this trail has been used much lately as it is covered in leaves and there are quite a few eroded sections. The tower itself also doesn't look like it gets manned much anymore. Some of the walk boards are loose and the wire mesh that wraps around the open sections is loose and in some sections, completely missing. There are two new picnic tables at the summit however and each of the three trails to the summit have fairly new signs." — StoneMan • Jun 10, 2015
