"What peak shall I summit to celebrate the 100th birthday of the Appalachian Trail? Granny Top sounds like a fitting peak name! Hiked with Gina from the end of Miller Gap Road on a nice trail with several step-overs and step-arounds. The trail follows a creek then crosses the watershed just above a spring and comes to a ’T’. Turn right to go to the A.T. at Dan Gap. Recovering from illness, Gina turned back halfway to the A.T., while I continued to the peak using the A.T. then a side trail to an old campsite on Top. Saw five people and two dogs on the A.T., but we had the rest to ourselves on a beautiful fall day with all the other trailheads crowded (Cooper, Gooch, and Woody Gaps)." — davidensley • Oct 7, 2023
