"With Jordan. We started out on a random unmarked canyon trail that was wide and easy to follow. A huge owl swooped down past us at one point. The temperature was pleasant and the trail was sandy with interesting rocks and weird cacti all around. We came upon a few interesting rock climbs on this trail, nothing unmanageable though. At the top of one of them a large lizard scampered over my foot and I just about jumped out of my skin as we had been on the lookout for snakes. Lol. After about a mile and a half the trail petered out and we bushwhacked slowly up the dirt ridgeline, trying our best to avoid prickly plants, and stopping every so often to look at the supreme views behind us. After two bumps, the climbing was rough large boulders to navigate. At the top of the ridge we started off toward the peak proper- then the winds started ripping over us with 60mph wind gusts, and it was slow going. The closer we got to our destination, the darker the clouds over the peak became. We started to hear thunder and decided it was time to bail. At this point we were about a half mile from the summit.
