"Walked from Glenridding to Keswick. Nice views at the start but conditions turned awful. Visibility went to pretty much zero, started snowing heavily. Having to make my own footpaths wading through about 3ft of snow was sooooo tiring. Ended up skipping Great Dodd and just tried to make it down in one piece. Fun stuff!" — MrGrinch • Mar 2, 2024
"A grey day with low cloud and wind for the first nine summits - cleared for Catstye Cam and Birkhouse Moor. Hard, icy snow on upper part of Swirral Edge. Despite the cloud stayed mostly dry. Home to Susan by 3.00pm." — johnandsue4fun • Jan 22, 2022
"A circular walk from Ullswater, Set off on path up through Glencoyne woods, past "Seldom Seen" cottages, then cut up and over col to east of Sheffield Pike, dropped down and then up Glenridding Dodd. Here we had good views down to Ullswater and across to Place Fell. We then went back to the col and up Heron Pike by its SE ridge. The weather was improving, with some sun, but there was a strong wind as we got higher. Good views up to the Helvellyn ridge where there was some snow left near the summit. From here we went up onto Sheffield Pike, enjoyed good views all around. We descended W to Nick Head, then picked up the path around the north of the peak and back to Glencoyne woods and Ullswater." — davidlong • Mar 20, 2012
