"November 12, 2022. Elk/Kings Loop counterclockwise. Put on microspikes on the downhill just before the rope and kept them on until I got to Kings. Hike stats on Kings Mountain. " — runningvegan • Nov 12, 2022
"Combined Elk/King's loop. Started at King's summit trailhead and completed CCW. The final climb up to King's from the ridgeline is pretty steep and was covered in 1-2 inches of slush-- very slick. Solid trail overall. 6 hours total." — triddle-me-this • Nov 10, 2021
"May 8, 2021. Hiked counterclockwise as AllTrails suggests. As others stated in their reviews, I would definitely only do this loop counterclockwise. The scramble up to Elk Mountain will require the use of your hands to pull yourself up some very steep sections. I would much rather climb up those sections than climb down. No snow or ice on the trail, boots the whole day. My Garmin Fenix 5 clocked this at 11 miles with 4,344 feet of elevation gain. " — runningvegan • May 8, 2021
