"as I traveled east from seattle I can see a fresh dusting of snow just above 3000 feet. the cloud ceiling remains just below the peaks surrounding I 90 up until stampede pass. it took exit 70 and now that forest road 4818 is open to vehicle traffic I was able to drive all the way to the trailhead.
both trails start as one so about 100 feet down, look for a small trail to the right heading toward a creek, then continue upstream until you reach the bridge. silver creek was raging from all of the recent snow melt. the little wooden damn looked close to bursting. After the bridge the climb started immediately, heading up the southwest face of easton ridge. less than a mile up the trail joined a small dirt road briefly before continuing north east. another half mile or so brought me to the junction with mount baldy trail. snow with patchy at the junction with the trails clearly visible. from here it was less than 2 miles to the summit of the east end of easton ridge, but I was slow but increasingly deep and slushy snow.
