"Summitted Devil's Den Mountain via Merrymeeting Rd ATV trails. Fun and easy hike with rewarding views and awesome cliff edge rock face. Plenty of established rock climbing routes. To find Devil's Den Cave system you need to follow the green blazes that veer off to the right before the cliffs. The cave is much larger than I expected. Could take an atv or mountain bike up to about half a mile from the summit.

"Started out today planning to hike Cavarly mountain and ended up hiking the logging roads up to Devils den. Once there, a short hike led to a steep scramble and the top. This would be a nice fall hike!" — Selrahc2nd • Jul 24, 2013
"26MAY2013: Hiked to Devil's Den Mountain (1,047 ft), and cave-explored the Devil's Den. An ~4.5 mile roundtrip hike consisting of a mixture of Class VI roads, logging Roads, and a short hiking trail. (From Route 28). The weather was far better than predicted, which made for terrific hiking weather. Very clear views to both Merrymeeting Lake & Lake Winnepesauke from the summit. The previous 5-6 days of rain made for very lush greens-- and very damp camp cave exploring. The Cave was smaller than I'd expected, but interesting in that in includes and OLD ladder to exit out the cave's top (that's been repaired, almost no-two-rungs-alike, many times) and remnant's of door hardware at the cave's ground level entrance. Quite a bit of graffiti on the inside from the early 80's. I don't have many pics of the inside, as I only brought my cellphone came & it is w/o flash. Had lot's o' fun exploring. Would like to come again sometime and try the trail that leaves from Merrymeeting." — CiccheMariti • May 26, 2013
