"This mountain is the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument. To get close to the mountain requires a HC-4WD vehicle. To get there: take US-285, north of Tres Piedras where there's a public access road, TP-178, at mile marker 387. You will pass a road marker and an info sign/map board. The road will wind around, heading E, N, E with the only signage being some brown fiberglass markers, some with arrows. TP-178 has some rough spots so a high clearance (HC) vehicle is recommended. The turnoff to the mountain is located at N36.7262, W105.9357; a HC-4WD vehicle is required beyond this point. If you wish to walk its about two miles one way to the HP. Summit log in a jar in the rock windbreak that marks the summit. The benchmarker is nearby." — fredbrown585 • May 2, 2021
