- Eastern BC is mountain country... dominated by the breathtaking Canadian Rockies and Columbia Mountains (broken into the Cariboo, Selkirk, Monashee, and Purcell ranges) in the south.
- The St Elias Mountains in far northern BC include its highest, Mt Fairweather at 4671 m, lying only 20km east of the Pacific Ocean.

"Great day to hike a low elevation local mountain. High cloud and about 1-2 degrees . There was no snow on the trail as snow line was at about 3800 feet. Vedder Ridge is at 3100 ft. Steve and I took the standard route parking our vehicle on the SE side of the mountain. It was a very nice gentle hike up to the ridge top. Very windy at top" — andrewbrintnell1 • Feb 17, 2024
"Afternoon laps at Kicking Horse. A nice amount of fresh snow. Bootpacked up to T1, skied some double blacks and explored other parts of the resort. Attempted to summit the other peaks CPR ridge has a pinnacle that was roped off and The Stairway to heaven to the summit of Whitetooth was closed." — Randy • Jan 10, 2024
"skiff of snow on the ground, slippery

Headed NW into open trees, then due north. Relatively steep, ~30'.
Reached trail head by logging roads, just west of Noke Creek camp grounds.

"2peaks combo. Gully accessing col between Odlum and Running Lake peak was a bit tedious. Running Lake peak was difficult scramble in one spot (40 m vertical crack). I was able to easy locate it thanks to Cornelius’s trip report . After that moderate scramble. Next I did mount Odlum, scenic, straightforward ridge. Nugara route. I descended s ridge towards Mt Loomis ‘for a few minutes’ as book suggests than went down big scree slope. Got into steeper scramble terrain close to the bottom, it seems like more proper route goes lower down south ridge, closer to the col. Also looks like some people descend east ridge, facing more towards road and it works well for them too. " — Pawel G • Oct 21, 2023
"Started the trail from the junction at Allison Creek Rd and walked up the ATV road to Racehorse Pass. Headed up the right hand side of the drainage gully through the vegetation until the scree started. We made our way up through the scree, sticking close to a ridge of rock slab for easier footing. Used the rock slab multiple times to speed up the ascent up to the ridge top and continued along the ridgeline towards the summit. The ridge line becomes a series of easily climbed rock slabs and eventually leads to a scree filled summit. The summit was windy as is usual for the area but we were able to duck out of the wind on the east side of the summit. Heading down, we headed towards the saddle and side sloped across the bowl and exited through the left hand side of the gully, when looking up." — Warrietaylor • Oct 8, 2023
