"Finally completed this trek after getting frustrated on my first two tries. I started from the Wendy Trailhead, which is north of the peak. I quickly climbed to Peak 1918 after about 4 miles. From there, I was in unfamiliar territory. This was also the point where the hike began to get more difficult. This time around, I actually looked for a trail going beyond the peak, and found it right away. I pressed forward and quickly found myself heading for higher ground toward exposed boulder cliffs. The trail mostly weaved its way through them, but some needed to be climbed over in a Class 3 fashion. The climb from Peak 1918 to the lower cliffs of Pop Top took about an hour and half, despite being only a mile. "7/7. Last peak on the loop for me today. Easy hop from Pop Top. Swam through some brush on the way down cross country before linking back up with the Mishe Mokwa trail. Ran out of water on the hike out. 96F in my car back at the trailhead. All in all, a "fun" way to get out during this heat wave." — edg • Jun 17, 2017
"We went up the Mishe Mokwa trail on our way to Sandstone Peak. Big dome however was on my Boyfriends to do list so we left the trail and bush wacked all the way up there through spanish Bayonets and other irritating stuff. But it was a fun climb to the top with really cool views. " — CaptainBadass • Oct 26, 2013
