"Hiked Bald from Harbour Rd. in Woodford. Early morning clouds cleared & a bluebird day was in store. I used spikes as the lower section of the
trail was somewhat icy. However, the middle & upper portions were very snowy & I wished I had brought my snowshoes...oh well. The only views
to be had were at the junction with the West Ridge Trail. Nice view of Mt. Greylock from this semi-open spot. The actual summit of Bald is wooded
with no views to be had. Makes ya wonder why it's named Bald??" — billsussdorff • Dec 11, 2019
"Bald mountain in the Glastenbury wilderness ftom the west ridge trail and the Bear Wallow.
Interesting feature of fine white sand can be seen near and at the summit area. Large chunks of pure white quartz are in abundence. Hence the layer of white sands." — mikezilla • Apr 18, 2012
