"An April Fools day hike with Ed from Long Island. We didn’t feel like driving up to the Catskills due to the damp forecast so we did a couple of easy peaks in the Hudson Valley instead. First ascent on both peaks for Ed so he had his phone out quite often snapping pics at various view spots. On top of Bear we were rewarded with a grand view of the NYC skyline and the tower was open so that called for another ascent to view the surrounding area. Relocated the car over on Rt 9D and headed up to the Nose just as a rain squall was blowing in rather dramatically. We were a bit wet as we reached the open view which was reduced considerably with the low cloud cover. Didn’t linger long as the wind quickly provided a chilling affect. Popped up to the true summit, with a county bench mark, before heading down and of course on cue the sky quickly cleared as we descended on the AT." — Nimblefoot • Apr 1, 2022
"Two small peaks, Anthonys Nose in the AM and Breakneck Ridge in the late afternoon chasing the waning daylight. In between taking Dad to physical therapy and doing a hard ride on the Maybrook rail trail with the fixie bike. Overcast grey sky all day but still a nice day to be outside " — Nimblefoot • Oct 13, 2021
"Out visiting some local peaks. First up was Turkey mountain, which I’ve done only once, via a loop of the short and direct white trail and the longer less steep blue trail. Cars were coming into the Nature park from out of state like Ct and NJ, some folks seem to be going far and wide to get in a “local” hike. Next up was a quick romp up to Anthony’s Nose for nice view up and down the River and over the Bear Mtn bridge. A little tricky finding parking along Rt 9D, a hot spot for hiking in the valley. Surprisingly I had the open ledge to myself despite the numerous cars below, not sure where everyone went, but I’ll take it. To finish my day I hopped across the River to head up to Black Rock forest for a jaunt up to Whitehorse mountain. Didn’t see a soul on the short hike so no need for any awkward social distancing." — Nimblefoot • Apr 16, 2020
"Out hiking some local peaks and searching for bench marks. Already visited the summits of Bull Hill and Sugarloaf Hill so now I head further south toward the Bear Mtn bridge to scoot up to Anthony's Nose. Here I find many cars and more hikers, even young folks, then realize some people get to play hooky on Election Day. On top I find two bench marks, one with an arrow, but no others in the immediate area. Further up I find another one that seems to indicate the Westchester county line. Before leaving I step out to the grand view to look across the bridge to Bear mountain and down the river toward NYC with all others enjoying a day off." — Nimblefoot • Nov 7, 2017
"Getting my wife Sharon out for a short hike close to home and visiting the Nose for the month of May. Many hikers out, from both parking lots on rt. 6/202, despite the cool temps and threatening skies." — Nimblefoot • May 15, 2016
"This is one of my favorites to go climbing up when I visit my hometown of Yorktown, NY. I went up here to clear my head and show my best friend the view via video messenger. LOL fun times." — Derek-S • Nov 24, 2015
"Did to easy hikes to stretch out the legs after yesterday's hike. After visiting the top of The Torne I crossed the Hudson and wandered up to Anthony's Nose for another fine view over the Hudson." — Nimblefoot • Sep 16, 2015
"Hiking the Castle Rock Unique Area and Anthony's Nose on a warm and humid day to get some exercise and views before the thunderstorms roll in. Passed a couple of thru-hikers making their way north on the AT slowly as the humidity was adding to their uphill struggle. Many teenagers out hiking to the view from the Nose now that school is out or about to be." — Nimblefoot • Jun 23, 2015
"After a long first few months of being on the road as a truck driver being home in NY it was fitting that I would take my brother and sister on a trip with me back to one of my usual spots." — Derek-S • Apr 24, 2014
"After tagging Mine mountain I headed over to Anthony's Nose so I could take in the nice views down to the river and over to Bear mtn and beyond. Beautiful day to be out and about." — Nimblefoot • Jan 30, 2014
