"Afternoon dog walk. Am Meallan (286m) is a TuMP (‘Thirty and upwards Metre Prominence’, 17000+ of them in Britain). Pleasant forestry tracks took me quickly and easily up to the shoulder ~300m east of the summit, after which the going was rough and pathless through some trees and over hummocky ground deeply furrowed by previous forestry operations. The little visited summit is now clear of forestry and makes a good vantage point for views over Loch Carron, Stromeferry and Achmore. The Red Cuillin on Skye were visible out west. There’s room for a couple of cars to park right at the start of the walk, by a forestry commission access gate on the A890" — davidb • Oct 27, 2019
