Standing at 2,530 feet, Woodcock Hill would make a respectable mountain in—say—Belgium or England. (It’s gotta be at least 1,000 feet above sea level to count as a “mountain,” right?) It is a little weird that I get to claim its “first ascent” when other folks on this site are dangling off bare precipices in helmets and harnesses. But “comparison is the thief of joy.” Three neighboring states—Delaware, New Jersey, and Ohio—don’t even have a single peak as high as the undiscovered Woodcock Hill, so I’ll content myself with the “mountains” I’ve got. This was a pleasant 2-mile out-and-back hike in the fragrant fall woods in State Game Lands 265.
