We summited Wines Peak as part of following the Ruby Crest Trail, which we hiked in its entirety northbound (Harrison Pass to Lamoille Canyon). The weather on day 3 (the day we hit Wines) was... particularly rough. 50-70mph gusts which nearly knocked us over many times on the ridgeline and made it hard to even stand up, much less follow a ridgeline trail for 9+ miles with a 35 pound pack on our back. That being said, if it wasn't for the "meh" weather and the smoke from California (sigh... I feel so awful for what's going on), it was a good (if tough!) experience. My first backpacking through-hike. I'd like to go back another time and grab some more of the peaks along the trail - some of them looked quite fun, if challenging, and the views would probably be stunning.
