This trip to the main summit of Wind Mountain (Lougheed IV) was a near epic 26 km round trip and over 1700 m elevation gain - it needed a 12 hours on the trail day. Using a bike could have saved 60 to 90 minutes of this trip. Weather cleared up before the summit, windy. We had some issues with our well-worn-soles hiking boots trying to get grip on some exposed slabby areas just below the summit. At the summit we could see distant landmarks such as Farnham Tower. We had some potentially dangerous problems with slushy hip-deep snowfields on the way down, maybe do this trip in later July to avoid hazardous old snowpack.
