I believe this is the shortest access to the summit from a car via public land. The spot can be accessed mainly via gravel road along the power lines (steep in one spot, glad to have AWD/4WD for slippage). With clearance/4WD you can also drive the final stretch to save yourself a few extra hundred feet and mile or so of walking. Note that there are several other roads and ORV tracks in the area, as well as private parcels.

The terrain is wide open cross country walking. Easy. The summit is a very flat wide plateau. I walked to the point that was labeled West Butte on the topo map I had open on my phone mapping app (Gaia).
