This is a popular hiking spot near Lake Waramaug. My wife climbed it with her parents, who know it as “The Pinnacle”. (There are several other places in the area also known as The Pinnacle”.) The trailhead is on the one lane June Road. The four parking spots there were all taken, so we parked at a turnout—one not marked as private property—about a quarter mile to the north.
The trail is very well maintained, and is blazed with light blue circles. It was covered with oak leaves and was slippery in places due to a light recent snow. The view from the rocky top was amazing. It had views in three directions, including superb views of Lake Waramaug. With an expansive area of rock and no trees around the summit, it was very windy at the top, so we didn’t stay too long. Another trail, blazed with yellow circles, also goes to the summit.
