The start of a 4 day trip to the Yorkshire Dales. We were lucky with unusually warm and clear weather for March. We did this hill in a circular walk, taking in Great Whernside first. From Kettlewell, we walked up through the village and up by the stream out onto the open hillside, with the big ravine of Dowber Gill on the right side as we ascended Great Whernside. From the summit we headed north along the ridge to Nidd Head and then headed NW down to a fell road at the head of Coverdale at 500m. We crossed the road and then ascended for 1.5 km, just over 100 m to the promontory of Tor Mere Top, which is an outlying ridge from Buckden Pike. We then headed down the escarpment to Cam Head and then down the long ridge back to Kettlewell.
