Set out to visit the summits of the Torne and Sugarloaf mountain to complete my 14th round of the Hudson Highlands Peak Challenge. Nice short romp up to the memorial cairn on top of The Torne to take the expansive view. Sadly the cairn seems to get bigger every time I visit and I noticed the military folks have installed new ropes, which are stouter and longer, to assist family members to safely reach the top. Relocated to east side of the river to eat lunch at the Washburn trail PA then redline the two trails in Little Stony Point. Moved up Rt 9D to hike up the Wilkinson trail to Sugarloaf but found it was still closed for restoration after a fire several years ago. I still hiked the trail to see how they re-routed it and found more signs stating the mountain is off limits. For a consolation prize of sorts I redlined the newish NH, Nimham Trail, which runs from the Wilki to the Break Neck Ridge trail. A lot of nice rock work on the whole trail and a few scenic spots.
