Tough slog up through the forest, then a nice pleasant hike up to the foot of the rock. Two ways up, carry on round to the right and take the path up the back or, live on the wild side and go straight up the front. Tricky at some parts but on the whole an enjoyable scramble. The midges were out on force which was a bit or a pain but other than that a very enjoyable day out.
