Solo. From Auchenblae. I walked to Drumelzie Wood. At a T junction of forest roads there is shown on the 1:50,000 map a path going westwards uphill and over Black Hill. I followed this. The path was not difficult to follow but has not been trodden much in recent times. I shortly came to another forest road. The path continues on the other side, but seemed even more vegetated so I did not follow it. Instead I went southwards, westwards and then northwards on the forest road. At the end of the road I walked through the forest in a north-westerly direction, mostly without a problem. I joined a track that goes over Strathfinella Hill and close to the summit. Curiously my 1:50,000 map shows this track as stopping at its ENE end, with no continuation of any kind. The track is obviously in use. I followed this track to its highest point and went northwards to the trig point. I went back along the track, which as expected does continue, and used it and other tracks to return to Auchenblae.
