Parked by the Forestry Commission research centre gates slightly SE of the hill. Took the FP to around the centre then a direct steady climb up the track to meet a perpendicular track to the top of the hill. Then following the track round, surprised to see a trig point hidden in a fence line, then back round the loop to meet the path I took up. Cut through the research centre on the way back. The experience was pretty much marred by the number of flies that bothered me relentlessly. Not sure why there were so many, but it was pretty unpleasant.
